Please save the date for the New England Clinicians Conference, "Teaching Race, Gender and Class: Learning from our students, communities and each other," on November 6 & 7, 2015 in Cambridge, MA.  Prof. Brenda V. Smith will give the keynote address during the opening luncheon. Registration is now open and available online at  http://newenglandclinicalconference.eventbrite.com.We are currently seeking panel/workshop proposals as well as works-in-progress--see below for more details.

Panel/Workshop Session Proposals

The Conference will focus on the theme of contextual learning and responsiveness to issues of race, gender, and current events in clinical teaching. While clinical teaching is grounded in the real world context, clinicians may nonetheless find it difficult to shift gears from pre-planned seminars to address current events. We anticipate participants will draw on a range of topics including race, police violence and community responses from Ferguson to Charleston; gender identity and coming out of Caitlyn Jenner; as well as racial appropriation and the outing of Rachel Dolezal. We also welcome panelists/workshops that explore emerging issues in clinical teaching, such as cross-clinic collaboration, the future of clinical education within the law school curriculum, and narrative/storytelling in clinical teaching.

Panel/Workshop Session Proposals should include the following: 1)Proposed title of panel/workshop  2)Phone number and email for a contact person 3)Names and school affiliations for all presenters and 4)Description of format, substance and takeaways (250 words maximum). Please email proposal to Sarah Sherman-Stokes (sstokes@bu.edu) no later than October 16, 2015.

 Works-in-Progress Submissions

We invite submissions of works-in-progress by new and experienced scholars on all topics and at all stages of development, including fully drafted papers as well as not yet fully formed ideas. Presenters will have the opportunity to introduce their projects and discussants will facilitate discussion regarding each work.
