CLEA Social Media and Digital Marketing Strategist-Part-Time Contract Position

Overview

CLEA is a national organization of clinical law professors committed to advancing clinical legal education, supporting justice-centered pedagogy, and fostering a vibrant, connected professional community. Our members include clinicians, fellows, supervisors, and scholars working across diverse practice areas and institutional contexts.

To strengthen our national presence, amplify member voices, and improve communication across platforms, CLEA seeks a Social Media and Digital Marketing Strategist to serve in a part-time, contract-based role. This role will work closely with communications leadership to strengthen our brand voice, increase engagement, and improve digital content workflows for a national professional audience.

The ideal candidate would be someone familiar with the clinical legal education community– either as a clinical instructor, fellow, or clinic administrator–and possessing significant experience in social media, marketing, communications, or business strategy.

Position Summary

The Social Media and Digital Marketing Strategist will develop and implement a cohesive digital communications strategy that reflects the organization’s mission, values, and priorities. The strategist will manage social media platforms, support website and blog updates, and assist with periodic newsletters and announcements.

The role is ideal for someone who understands the clinical legal education community and can translate that knowledge into engaging, accessible, and strategic digital content that will build connection within the clinical community. This position offers a unique opportunity to elevate your national profile within the clinical community while gaining hands-on mentorship from organizational leadership. As a primary architect of CLEA's digital communications strategy, you will build visibility, establish yourself as a thought leader in digital communications, and gain mentorship and insight into organizational governance.

This is a part-time independent contractor position, compensated through quarterly $2500 stipends ($10,000 per year), with flexible scheduling and remote work. The anticipated time commitment is 60-70 hours per quarter (an average of 5 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

● Develop and periodically update a short-term and long-term social media and digital communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.

● Identify key themes, campaigns, and moments in the clinical legal education calendar (e.g., conferences, workshops, calls for papers, advocacy moments).

● Coordinate with organizational leadership, committees, and volunteers to prioritize messaging.

Social Media Management

● Manage and post content on the organization’s social media platforms (e.g., X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Bluesky, or similar).

● Draft original posts and adapt organizational announcements, member achievements, and external resources for social media.

● Monitor engagement, respond as appropriate, and flag issues or opportunities for leadership.

● Establish and maintain consistent visual and written standards across platforms, including clear posting guidelines.

Website, Blog, and Newsletter Support

● Update website content as needed, including announcements, events, and resources.

● Assist with publishing, light editing, formatting, and promoting blog posts.

● Support the preparation and dissemination of periodic newsletters (e.g., quarterly or bi-monthly), including content coordination and promotional strategy.

Analytics & Reporting

● Track basic engagement metrics (e.g., growth, reach, clicks) and provide brief quarterly summaries.

● Use analytics to refine strategy and recommend improvements.

● Report to Communications Committee Chair(s).

Monthly Deliverables & Expectations

While exact needs may vary by month, expected deliverables will typically include:

● Social Media

○ 1-2 posts per week across platforms (approximately 5 or more posts per month)

○ Timely promotion of organizational events, calls, publications, and member news

● Website & Blog

○ 1–2 website updates or announcements per month

○ Support for at least 1 blog post per month (posting, formatting, promotion)

● Newsletter Support (as applicable)

○ Content coordination for scheduled newsletters

○ Social media promotion of newsletter content

● Coordination & Reporting

○ Brief monthly or quarterly check-in with designated organizational contact

○ Quarterly metrics and strategy memo (1–2 pages)

Desired Qualifications

● Demonstrated familiarity with clinical legal education, experiential legal education, or closely related legal academic communities.

● Experience (professional or substantial volunteer) in social media strategy, marketing, communications, or digital content management.

● Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to academic, practitioners, and public audiences.

● Demonstrated experience managing multiple platforms and adapting content for different audiences.

● Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and coordinate with volunteer leadership.

● Experience with website content management systems, email marketing platforms, generative AI tools, or basic analytics tools strongly preferred.

Compensation & Term

● Compensation: $2,500 stipend per calendar quarter

● Status: Part-time independent contractor position

● Initial term: One year, with the possibility of renewal
