UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS CECIL C. HUMPHREYS SCHOOL OF LAW is hiring an Assistant Professor of Law for a new in-house clinic.

The University of Memphis School of Lawinvites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Law who will be responsible for designing, directing, and teaching a new in-house clinic.  We welcome enthusiastic candidates with relevant practice experience, outstanding academic and professional accomplishments, passion for teaching and supervising law students, demonstrated interest in legal scholarship, and dedication to experiential education, collaboration, and community.

Memphis Law’s clinics place students in the lead role of providing direct legal services under close faculty supervision.  Our existing in-house clinics—the Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic, Neighborhood Preservation Clinic, Expungement and Restoration of Rights Clinic, and Mediation Clinic—seize on innovation and community partnerships to train students to assist individuals, organizations, and neighborhoods throughout our city.  A successful candidate will present a creative vision for a new clinic that will enhance our delivery of experiential education, build upon our existing curriculum, and position students to deliver high-quality legal assistance.  Rather than inviting proposals for a clinic with a predetermined subject matter focus or delivery model, we welcome proposals in areas suggested by the applicant that will maximize educational opportunities for students and that demonstrate potential for strong community collaboration.

Please submit applications via University of Memphis WorkForum: https://workforum.memphis.edu/postings/37210.  To express your interest, please submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and 1-2 page description of the clinic you hope to teach.  The screening of applications will begin promptly and will continue until the position is filled.  Please direct any questions to Professor Danny Schaffzin, Director of Experiential Learning and co-chair of the Faculty Recruitment Committee, at danny.s@memphis.edu

Memphis Law has a strong institutional commitment to the diversity of its faculty and is interested in receiving expressions of interest from all persons, including those who will add to its diversity.  The University of Memphis is an EEO/AA employer.
