FORDHAM UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applicants for a clinical teaching fellow for its Entrepreneurial Law Program and Clinic. Founded in 2017, the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic (“ELC”) prepares students for transactional law practice by providing opportunities for them to advise startup companies and socially impactful ventures in the vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem in New York City. The ELC is part of a larger entrepreneurial law program that combines a foundational curriculum in law and entrepreneurship with educational events, a podcast, community partnerships, and other curricular programming.

In conjunction with the clinic director, the Fellow will teach in the ELC’s weekly seminar, supervise clinic students in their fieldwork, help manage the ELC’s community partnerships, and otherwise participate in the operation and development of the clinic. Additionally, the Fellow will help manage the Entrepreneurial Law Program’s activities and engage in fundraising.

The Fellowship will be designed to support attorneys interested in exploring the possibility of a clinical teaching career. The Fellow will receive valuable clinical teaching experience, exposure to clinical pedagogy, and support for professional development and scholarship.

The Fellowship will begin in January 2024 as a two-year appointment with a possible six-month extension.

Candidates should have a minimum of three years of transactional law practice experience in at least one of the ELC’s primary practice areas—business law, employment law, and intellectual property. Relevant experience in public interest transactional lawyering, such as representing low-income entrepreneurs or social entrepreneurs, is desirable. Candidates should also have a strong interest in clinical teaching and the potential for scholarship and success as a clinical teacher. Candidates must have a J.D. degree and be admitted to the New York bar (or eligible to seek admission as soon as reasonably possible after committing to join us).

The annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $75,000.

Fordham Law School is a national leader in the field, with approximately 1,600 students in our J.D., LL.M. and M.S.L. programs. Fordham is the Jesuit University of New York and serves students of all faiths, including those with no faith.

To apply, please email a resume, cover letter, and three references to Brennan Hawsey, Clinical Legal Assistant, at bhawsey@fordham.edu. The cover letter should address your specific interest in the position and outline skills and experience that relate to the position. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their materials as soon as possible.
